Full-Frame Window Replacement

Full-Frame Window Replacement in Buffalo

When a storm racks an opening or years of leaks rot the sill, a pocket insert will not cut it. Full-frame replacement takes the old window down to the rough opening so the framing and flashing get repaired before the new unit goes in. Greentopiafest uses this method whenever the frame is damaged or you want to change the size of the window, common in the older housing stock near Allen Street.

Why Full-Frame Instead of an Insert

An insert reuses the existing frame, which is fine when that frame is square and sound. But hidden rot behind the trim is exactly the kind of surprise older Buffalo homes hand you. Going full-frame lets us inspect and repair the studs, add proper flashing tape, and set the unit in a clean, waterproof opening. That means no draft sneaking back and no water finding a path around a compromised sill.

Our Process

We remove the old window and trim, open the wall to the rough opening, and repair any rotted framing. New flashing and a properly sealed unit go in next, set with expanding foam and checked against the NFRC label for U-factor and SHGC. We finish the interior and exterior trim so the opening looks original, and we haul away the old unit.
